The Funhub Glide 32 Electric Yacht is Funhub’s most technologically ambitious product — a foiling electric yacht that lifts its hull completely clear of the water surface at speeds above 18 knots, eliminating wave-making drag, reducing energy consumption by 70% compared to an equivalent planing hull, and creating the extraordinary sensation of gliding across the water surface in near-complete silence at 35 knots. The foil system consists of a main foil amidships and a canard foil forward, both constructed from pre-preg carbon fibre and controlled by Funhub’s autopilot-integrated flight control computer that reads water conditions 100 times per second and adjusts foil angle of attack continuously to maintain a stable flight height of 600mm above the water surface regardless of wave height up to 0.8 meters. The 180kW electric motor drives a custom-designed retractable propeller pod that retracts flush with the hull bottom when the yacht is foil-borne, eliminating propeller drag entirely at cruising speed. The 180kWh lithium iron phosphate battery bank provides a foiling range of 120nm or a displacement range of 200nm, with 80% charge achieved in 45 minutes via CCS2 DC fast charging at compatible marina shore power facilities.
